DEMISE OF JAMAICA’S LAMP/STOPLIGHT COMBOS | | Forgotten New YorkForgotten New York

I got to admit, as ugly and soulless those street lights were, they kind of gave Jamaica Avenue more character and distinguished it from the other major commercial avenue in the city. I was on Jamaica Avenue yesterday morning, and all of them [even the ones on Parsons Blvd] have been replaced. I was surprised how old those lights actually were, given there somewhat futuristic look.
