Just out of curiosity, why are the sanitation discussion threads by far the most popular threads on the NYC forum? Is it just a bunch of guys discussing the job and applying for the job & stuff? I mean, man! Hundreds of thousands of views! Thousands of replies! It's nutso!

But I do hope that those who were trying to make it into the job got it & are enjoying it. Someone's gotta take out the trash & I sure hope I can trust that guy to do a great job!

Because its a real world thread. You dont have to read the usual nonsense of...

I hate Bloomberg
I love Bloomberg
Where can I find the cheapest organically raised free range chicken
Where can I apply for a housing project for me and my five kids with different fathers.
Can I get a nice apartment on the upper east side for $500 a month.
I hate McDonalds
etc, etc etc

Because a lot of New Yorkers want to work for the DOS, myself included. It's better then the I hate Bloomberg, I hate hipsters, I hate gentrification, I hate the police, I hate Whites/Blacks/Hispanics/Asian threads that plague this forum.

Well.... strong odor usually attract all kinds of things to it. I kid, I kid. I love you DSNY guys! Please don't leave my garbage behind.

I've actually click on the DSNY thread a few times out of curiosity too. It's a very informative and helpful
thread for people applying for DSNY jobs. It's always active compare to other threads. On the other hand,
the other threads will die down no matter how popular the topic was after a few weeks.

Because Sanitation is the best job in the city. Nobody hates us like they hate cops, we do our thing and we are out of your way. Women love us, kids wanna be us, and men wish they were us. NY's Strongest, it speaks for itself. As I always say, we break our a** out there in all kinds of weather but in the end I don't think you will find too many miserable Sanmen. That's why we always smile, just a happy group of hardworking men and women.

Why are you always posting on the NYC forum when you don't live here?

I thought sanitation workers made around a hundred grand a year. Is that true? That could easily be the reason for those threads being so popular. No expensive college loans and still make $100K. Not bad.

That's with overtime pay, snow pay, etc. Not all DSNY make that but they do make good bread. They break their balls but at least their bank account shows for it. I got some friends on DSNY. The senior guys make 100K.
