well broom's, basket trucks, MLP and some collection trucks in the city do. so it depends on where you go, plus you don't need to memorize anything you will learn all of that hands on as you go. so don't worry about memorizing any of that stuff.
All I hear is that radio going off all day, mostly the brooms to garage or the DS/nds to the boro.
correct but they still are used, when brooms are looking for somewhere to dump they contact field officers and or basket trucks to find out where they are to dump. ds/nds call out broom #'s to find their location (10-14) for meeting points to sign 350's.
Foreman definitely need to use the codes, but outside of the the few stuck up/by the book/omg snow the world is going to end garages you aren't using radio codes or the radio at all. Use your cellphone and stay off the public airwaves. It's to your benefit. LOL

I was contacted via radio on a basket truck for a broom to dump in, I'm so used to it not even being for me I didn't even notice until the nds called me lol
