I don't think this is all that ridiculous. If you could have bought a 3-family on Avenue D ten years ago for the same price (inflation-adjusted), you would have gotten a great deal. I think this location is similar (including projects) and will follow a similar trajectory.
That is entirely possible...but is the bar set at $1 million for a hideous property you then have to "renovate" in a hideous area of Bushwick? Is this life now in NYC?

A lot of the new comers are gaining numbers on both sides of the border on Flushing. This is where the new comers began their journey into Bushwick and East Williamsburg. Along the border which is industrial-residential. I never personally considered the area to be lovely. But they are quickly gaining numbers on each side. East Williamsburg however is mostly industrial with a percentage being residential. Bushwick is predominantly residential excluding the main ave's which can be used for commercial purposes, like every other neighborhood.

$1m is money she can afford to burn, as well as the thousands needed to renovate the building. At worst she will get 50c to the dollar if a disaster happens but in all likelihood she will keep or profit from this investment. People with that much can toy around with large amounts, as well as engage in a bit of social engineering for their entertainment purposes.
Lol these folks are hipsters and "industrial artists" types. The ****t*er the neighorhood looks the more they like it. Have you all not seen "Girls?" They don't want it to look like Park Slope.
rich people are buying the cheapest of the cheap houses in the roughest hoods,
making it harder for anyone else to buy anything, because they keep on bidding
you out for everything. it's kinda selfish and dumb but we'll see how this ends.
