Requalify, huh?

That is the most ridiculous thing I ever heard. Processing the same paperwork twice. Oh well, not surprised. These lotteries are so backwards. That's like asking someone who gets paid for working 80 hours every 2 weeks if their paycheck changed from May to October. It's the same 80 hours worked every 2 weeks. Why would it change?

I remember my lottery when I changed jobs and the coordinator said: I need 4 new paystubs from my new job. I was happy to supply and informed her I'd have them in 2 months after 4 pay periods. Also reminded her at that point, the building would be filled so it made no logical sense. Then someone with common sense (another coordinator) came over and said: multiply her current paycheck 4 times and you have your 4 paychecks. She gets the same pay every 2 weeks so why wait 2 months?

So glad that coordinator put the dummy coordinator in her place.

SMH. Thats all I have to say. The ridiculousNess of the city imposing these nonsensical procedures is beyond me.

I'm actually not surprised you have to requalify. What if you, within the next six months, you get a raise that places you in a higher bracket or get a new, higher paying job?? It actually would be surprising if they didn't make you recertify.

Hello,

I was told the move in for lower floor would be some time in July. Did they move to October now?

Don't know - my friend said originally August but prob now as late as October.

My assumption would be that this would only apply for the low-income and not for moderate income, since for low-income you have to re-certify annually whereas moderate income is a one-time deal. According to the website:

"Participants in the low income program will need to recertify annually. Participants in the middle or moderate income program will only need to certify their incomes once prior to initial lease signing, regardless of how long they remain tenants of the buildings."

In the case of low income, it makes sense. Has anyone in moderate income been asked to recertify prior to lease signing, or informed that they would have to recertify at a later point?

Anyone any updates on current interviews?

Any idea or any hope left for getting into these two dream towers????

As much as I want to ignore the stress, it keeps getting bigger.

Babydoll, this is the real world where nobody really gets 20% plus annual increase anymore unless they land a completely new job and 20% is hard to come by, so the chances of that happening where one becomes "disqualified" seem kinda slim. I'm sure if you switched jobs now, you might get a 10K or 15K salary increase, but not a 50K hike.

If a Starbucks cashier makes $10.00 an hour now and lands an office job as a receptionist, what is the likelihood that the cashier now makes 60K versus the 25K that a Starbucks cashier makes annually by working full time? No employer would give an individual that kinda pay increase based on prior pay and work experience.

HPS Applicant, I showed up at the building to speed up the process and was turned away. Just sent another follow up email today and no response. I was told 2 months ago to schedule an interview and to this day nothing. Everytime I inquire about scheduling an appointment, I get the same automatic response which leads to a bunch of nothing. Kinda like Bill Cosby and those allegations against him. Whenever asked to comment on the subject, he says something random and meaningless that amounts to a big pile of "nothing".

KebDay, I agree about annual verification for low income. But it's juts ridiculous for people approved now to be re-approved again in October when the Commons building finally opens. That's what I was getting at.

Once again, I showed up and was turned away at the building.

Really?? My friend was just promoted with a 25% pay increase. I've got to check to make sure she's real!! Also, it only takes a 10K increase you place you in a different income bracket. Actually, it only takes a $1.00 increase if someone is at the top of the bracket. My point is they recertify you to determine you income and which apartment you would be paying for - not that you would be priced out completely. Please think before you post.

Can you refer me to the firm your friend was just hired at? I want to apply because I'd really like a 25% salary increase right about now. In fact, I think everyone on this board would like a 25% salary increase.

sure - you can PM me. Maybe you're in the wrong profession! Also, it only takes a 1% salary increase or promotion to price you out of an income bracket. Also, if you refer to my original post, I was clearly was referring to pricing you into a different bracket; not out of the affordable housing completely. SMH.
