Pretty sure by splitting that $3k rent amongst 4 people. I like my own studio at about 50% that rate.

I have yet to meet a younger person, hipster or not, who lives in an apartment alone. Almost everyone I've talked to is with roommates. That's the only reason most people are able to live in expensive parts of the city.

Roommates definitely help with the rent. But even then, it seems like they're not putting away or saving very much for the future. If we didn't save and have a mortgage, then yes, we'd be living a bit more freely as well.

"hipsters".. u mean young millenial bar/restaurant/cafe workers are generally subsidized by mommy and daddy in ohio.

they have nice midwest manners and make good waiters.

A lot of hipster I've worked with are freelancer developing apps for iPhones or working for dotcom like many of the startups in NYC's silicon alley. I went to an interview 2 years ago and majority of the workers there are young hipsters except the founders were Ivy league boys.
