Anyway any suggestions on trying a different route to/from Penn Station that might be quicker. I belong to citibike...not sure it that or another subway would be better. Thanks a lot....
I would have taken the 4 or 5 to 86th and walked the few extra blocks.

Depends upon which route you are talking about. Hint: avoid the 57th street crosstown bus. *LOL*

The routes above 57th Street aren't nearly as so bad because the island of Manhattan is a bit narrower up there. In theory you could even walk from say CPW to Fifth or Park Avenue in a short amount of time as many do.

10 to 15 minutes minutes depending on wheelchairs.

It would always be 96th.

Citibike to the UN on first and then the SBS-M15 to 96th. Depending on how fast you ride it's about 25-30 mins if you get the bus timed right.

Then that is settled then; take the 2 or 3 express to 96th, and transfer to the crosstown Select bus. Coming home the whole thing in reverse.

Or as one said when the Second Avenue Subway is up and running just take that from 34th to 96th.

Thread over... *LOL*

I'd say more like 10 minutes on the train. But yeah, once you go up for the transfer and everything, I'd say it's around 30 minutes for the trip from start to finish.

The M86 is +SBS+, but the M96 isn't.

I ride 220 blocks to work each way, on the Hudson greenway bike path. This commute is not with the cars and it has reduced my stress levels over taking the subway.

It just takes me 50 minutes without breaking a sweat as the route is downhill on the way to work. The route would be the same for you, except that you get a nice ride through the park first and an even shorter downtown trip

Only on the way back you'll get sweaty and you'll need a shower when you get home, also you can buy prescription deodorant too.
