Your answer, of course, says nothing about Howard Beach.
But a lot about Ridgewood Queens
How so? Howard Beach isn't any more racist than any other neighborhood in NYC, and quite frankly, there are plenty of minority neighborhoods that are VERY hostile to those that don't look like them.

Yep definitely, growing up on the Bushwick border I was subject to racial slurs very frequently both in school and just walking on the street. I doubt the same thing occurs in a place like Howard Beach.

Same here. I've had things thrown at me when I've been in minority neighborhoods just walking down the street.

heres one thing no one mentions........Blacks as well as other minorities really have no reason to goto that side of town.....whats over there that they cant get anywhere else? italians and arabs have spots selling pizza calzones and other italian eats all over the city. As far as I know theres no public HS there that brings in kids from places like south jamaica, far rockaway, east NY, etc. the ONE time I went through there was to catch the airtrain to JFK.
and heres something else to consider: back then they didnt have reason to go over there either. the guys who got assaulted over there only ended up out that way bc they caught car trouble on cross bay blvd on their way from far rockaway to somewhere in bklyn.

Not sure what it was to be honest, but I'm glad it missed me that's for sure, otherwise I might not be here to talk about it.

Like someone said earlier, you have Lenny's Clam Bar. And they opened up a pretty good brunch place next door. Also there's New Park that has far better pizza than any of the surrounding neighborhoods. I actually think its the best slice of pizza anywhere in Brooklyn or Queens.
Ha ha the hate crime victims unit by minority's coming out the woodworks, of course they come out on CD. Kids where always territorial didn't matter what race you were, from Prospect Heights even to Park Slope. All of sudden people had heart to go to nabes like Brownsville, yeah funny...
