Cross Bay Blvd use to always have kids and families walking around. Now the strip is empty and pretty much devoided of life.

This is so bizarrely and patently untrue. People walk from their cars into restaurants, that's it. There was never anything to do in Howard Beach on that strip of Crossbay Blvd. The closest was Fuddruckers 25 years ago and even that was all indoors.

I've lived in Howard Beach since I was 15 years old. I'm about to be 45. The only remotely "busy" part of that strip was the block that housed Blockbuster and Ragtime. My mother worked the ice stand at Ragtime when I was in elementary and high school and even then it was not some busy place besides those shopping in the store.

There has never been some massive throng of people on the streets in Howard Beach.

I use to always see people walking between roughly 156 to 159 Avenue. Likely due to places like Blockbuster, Petco, Video Game Central, Ragtime etc. Now most of those places are gone and I never see anyone execpt by New Park.

Strip is empty? Cross Bay is nothing but double parked cars from 156th to about 162nd Ave.

Crossbay Blvd is to Howard beach as Myrtle Ave is to Ridgewood as Metropolitan ave is to Forest Hills.

It serves the people of the community most of the time and is hospitable to those who frequent from elsewhere.
If crime takes place in said locations it is usually perpetrated by those not from the community. Why?

There is an Old saying : Don't crap where you sleep. Few are foolish to commit a crime in
the neighborhood in which they reside but it does happen on occasion. With so many cameras
today one would be a bigger fool to attempt something stupid...............

You wanna see a truly racist neighborhood? Be a black dude walking around downtown Flushing around dusk/dark. Those Chinese mainlanders literally will cross the street! Not Chinese Americans but Chinese foreign born mainlander illegal aliens, truly the most racist of all racists! Yet we allow them to flood NYC by the thousands every day.

They’re model minority racists. The value of their purported economic surplus far exceeds their close minded racist segregationist tendencies. And their mostly not Christian.

Unfortunately about 55% of hate-crimes against Asians are committed by African-Americans. Gee, maybe you think that has something to do with it???

I'm glad being retired I have no longer the desire to seek out entertainment at dusk or dawn hours.
