This is just ridiculous. Never come across a metro area where u have to pay tolls to enter the main city. Now I'm from the DC area.....And there are no ****ing tolls to enter the city from the suburbs. I now live in jersey and everytime I have to access manhattan I got to pay some ridiculous over-priced tolls(8 ****ing dollars). Come one now...I would be fine with 2 or 3 dollars. I don't know who is in charge NJ or NY government.......Now i wish i had never moved here.

everything in the city is expensive...they are even thinking about implementing a plan where they charge u to come into midtown during the business hour. this is the way things are in nyc. everything is expensive...just deal with it or get out...lol.

yep you got a point!

Whats ironic to me is how after 9/11 people were offering dicounted tickets on broadway and nyc government officials were begging pple to come to town, now its the complete opposite! Lets charge you more on tolls and to drive into a certain section, we'll charge again! its ridiculous but what can you do about it.

Part of the GOOD part of the tolls (other than raising some income) is that it makes people use mass transit rather than cram even MORE cars on Manhattan Island.

the main reason the tolls are so high is that much of the money collected at the bridge and tunnels are diverted to help pay for mass transit

Or politicians' pocket or top management of port authority. Their book is closed to the public. They can raise their price to whateva they want. The public is at their mercy. They don't have to answer to no 1.

I'm frankly delighted that the tolls serve as a deterrent to those planning to drive into Manhattan. It's crowded enough with cars.
