In NYC, you get what you pay for. If you have the money, you can get the best of the best food there is. If not, not.

Cheap food in NYC is going to be crap, because the costs of running a business are so high, anyone selling food cheap has to cut corners on their ingredients.

I cook a lot more than I used to. And I buy a lot of my supplies out of the city.

I heard the cost for a license for those halal food trucks has skyrocketed. But still... it's best to pack your own lunch most of the time. Unless you can afford the $70 lunches. $45 salads.

$70!? You clearly do not get around much. I've always said that NYC is unique in that for such a big city you can eat good food for so cheap.

Here is my logic about why most of the food in this city does suck.

bodegas (everything is unhealthy)
food trucks (everything is unhealthy, and unsanitary)
IMO, food trucks should be abolished in NYC
convenient stores (everything is unhealthy)
any places that is a "deli" (everything is unhealthy or just not good quality)
all the starbucks (everything is unhealthy)
any kind of immigrant food mobiles or trucks (unsanitary)
it is just the entire American food system that is gross
all the Fast Food places are like eating plastic foods and everything is bad for you
donuts shops

What I just listed above is about 75% of all the food we immediately see in NYC

Then the sad part is that in the past decade a huge amount of the old school family owned business were put out of business due to gentrification

We should be pissed off about all these things.

I can go on for a long time in more detail.
Your logic is illogical. We have more old school family owned joints than anywhere else in the country. You're just too dumb to find them.

The majority of this is found in every city. I mean come'on what US city lacks a Starbucks

Applying this same standard then every US city sucks. The suburbs all suck too.
