I was told about a citywide hiring freeze that goes into effect this month. I know every agency isn't impacted. Some will still have pools and appointments for certain titles. Does anyone know if a freeze could put a temporary halt to new civilian hires with the nypd?
In short to anwser your question, @Space64, yes, it will affect us as well, as stated in the article.
While what I stated here is true, there's a bright side...
Like with all budgets, they must be approved by the legislative body.
I know that there will be negotiations in regards to parts of the budget.
I do hope is that there will be someone negotiating on behalf of the PD (which most likely there will be - all agencies usually have someone who negotiates on their agency's behalf).
Good news is just about anyone who's rank is in the 300s (max) will probably be getting the email referring to the next hiring pool.
Bad news is I won't be one of them; as a result I've mostly given up on getting called within time to avoid being frozen out by way of the citywide hiring freeze.
I will say that things are looking up for me (I think) as I may be getting called up by the state, for a job stemming from an exam I took sometime ago.
Thanks for the update. Congratulations in advance on the state. They pay a little more than the city. I took an exam with them years ago, was on page 7 out of 21 pages and was never called. The list expired. However, I'm so glad they got back to you before yours expired. Best of luck.

Thank you, @upperwestside32.
Am hoping for the best for everyone!
