I am starting to save this later half of the year for a potential move to NYC. I will be looking for a job In IT and finding a place to live with roommates for cheaper rent. Right now my goal is $5000. Is that rebought I live in a place like bushwick, or should I look elsewhere
the answer is, of course "it depends". Spouse? Kids? Car? Willing to have room-mates? Do you have to live in a pricey hip area, or is a more calm but somewhat less interesting but cheaper area ok?

I am 29 and single with no kids. Yes I do want to be in a hip place so I could meet people like myself, but it doesn’t have to be the hippest place. If you know any places I am open to suggestions
Oh I have a car now but thinking of giving it away when I move.
Its a simple savings plan. My wife and I usually pay our vacations that way. Between the two of us we save about 2,500 bucks in a year just putting 5.00 bills in a jar. We also do the 1.00 first week, 2 dollars second week until we add 52 dollars in the 52 week. That is about 1,400 in an other jar.

If you have a job lined up first, before you move, then $5,000 is fine
