Been listening to Steely Dan of late. Was surprised and happy to find out they grew up in New York. I was a big fan of Type O Negative who is originally from South Brooklyn. What groups or artists of any genre do you listen to that are local, and how important would you say the music scene was here on the international scene. I watched a Fox Five special on the whole rock scene here. I had no idea it was so big in Bensonhurst. I dearly miss Coney Island High in the Village. Unfortunately gentrification has sort of killed off lots of music venues.

I’ve always heard that Studio 54 was THE place to be back in the day. lol Of course there was also CBGBs as well...

Really? That's awesome. I never was that into them, but I do like some of their songs. Godof Thunder is a great one.

H2O is from Queens if I remember correctly.
Beastie Boys of course.
If you grew up in SI in the early 90s Wu Tang was considered local.

Steely Dan is great. Rock with a jazz influence. Going to see them this fall at the Beacon.

Only recently found them. Was doing a Spotify and they popped up. I heard Aja and was blown away. Just about every song on that album is amazing. Deacon Blues and Peg. My fav is Aja though.
