So yes it is possible that there are fewer fully black American people (adults with 4 grandparents born in the USA) than in 1970 but the true number in 2018 is unknown as there are many blended families.

De Blasio's wife has ONE Caribbean born grand parent, yet some include her as Caribbean.
There are definitely many people with blended families. Some of my cousins are half Trinidadian or Dominican.

You aren't black, and boast about this and so you aren't qualified to comment on NYPD and blacks.

In fact the NYPD illtreats blacks regardless of their ethnicity.

According to this 28% of the Black population is foreign born. So not 60%. The first generation Americans or children of immigrants are not listed separately here. There's a lot of ethnic intermarriage in NYC, and lots of immigrants blacks have children with immigrants from other countries and/or African Americans.
The 28% is too low and the 60% is too high. What that number is no one knows. The census doesn't have a category for black immigrants to check, so are often included among African Americans. In fact the census box determines people of sub Saharan African descent based on their self identification.

Much of the problem isnt the individual policeman. Its policing and so some policemen do things that they know are wrong. Like being forced to meet quotas, which the NYPD denies, but which too many cops offer evidence as being the case.

I really think that the problem isnt necessarily with the ordinary patrol cop but with some of these "special units" which seem to attract people with a Marine mentality.

So if West Indians are such hell holes why do their households have higher median incomes and levels of home ownership?

Please go on fooling yourself that a black American under class doesn't exist. Mt. Vernon went down for the same reasons that many older black middle class neighborhoods deteriorated.

You peddle the same bigotry about West Indian immigrants as others do of black Americans. Truly sad because to white people blacks are blacks and being an American black doesn't improve one's standing with them.

Yes because you will go whining to the moderator when I respond to your Trump like attitudes towards blacks.

I still think a black banker has more opportunities to succeed in NYC than any place in the south. For the record there are many African American single people who move to cities like NYC, DC, LA and San Fran for opportunities especially if its in Fashion, Tech and Finance.
Blacks are over represented in the healthcare field. They are under represented in Tech and Finance and Real estate, which is why so many blacks of ALL ethnic backgrounds are leaving the city.

There hasn't been significant AA in-migration for 50 years. Immigration of Caribbean and African blacks continues until today, though diminished numbers from the Caribbean. So yes the % of blacks with some Caribbean and direct African heritage will be increasing.

But the speech and style of NYC raised kids of Caribbean background suggests to me that black Americans are still the largest subgroup and it is that group which provides the pathway to assimilation for 2nd generation people of Caribbean origin.

What no one is discussing is the fact that the disappearance of many back office admin jobs in the financial industry has badly hurt the black middle class. Many of these jobs were outsourced to India, shifted to cheaper parts of the US, or automated.

Correct. In fact the slower recovery of blacks from the Great Recession is due to over representation in the public sector. Blacks however are outside of the social networks which lead to easy transition into the fast growing sectors of the private sectors. The back office admin jobs in the private sector in NYC have disappeared for many reasons.
