Wow, I know it was found in the Upper West Side. Lots of money there.

Tough call there, can't say with all honestly my first thought would be to give it back. *LOL*

I mean unlike that Brink's truck incident on Route 3 last week, this truly was "found" money.

There are good people out there! I left my bag in an uber last week, couldn't even get uber or the driver to reply to my missing bag.

A couple of thoughts. First, after learning about the NYPD's sting called "Operation Lucky Bag" I probably would not pick up a purse at all. Tourist Sues City For $1 Million After Getting Arrested In NYPD "Operation Lucky Bag" Sting: Gothamist

Second, if the owner of the money reported it missing, why do they have to wait til she comes back to the country to tell her they recovered it? Don't people have things like telephone numbers and email addresses????

Thanks for that link! Had no idea "finding" lost property over a certain value and failing to turn it in to LE was a crime in New York. Comes as no surprise however in a state and city were everything besides breathing seems a crime and or is regulated.

Still don't know though; 10 large in unmarked bills is a nice chunk of change.

Someone carrying $10k in a purse is a tad shady.

I would've just assumed it was a set up and left it alone.

Walking to work a few years ago in Manhattan I turned the corner to go into the corner store and noticed what appeared to be a thick leather wallet lying just beside the curb. I walked on into the store, spider sense tingling, ignoring the wallet.

I was in that store no more than 30 seconds and when I came out the wallet was gone.

With this guys case what did he do that was illegal?

In my opinion if you leave a purse or wallet anywhere on an outdoor park bench in NYC its fair game. Id have to see the video to watch how it all went down but it sounds like fair game.

Yesterday I found $5 cash on the street on the UWS. I looked around and nobody was there. The bill had snow on it. Is that llegal to pocket it or should I have called in the Freedom Fighters?

Partner was waiting for a bus and noticed two $50's on the sidewalk. He put one foot on each and let the next bus go by, then picked them up when he was alone.
