10305 is out by New Dorp, and 10314 is Todt Hill, while both areas have gotten a bit darker over past few decades, they certainly are not "minority" areas.

Todt Hill projects skew things but they are actually in Castleton Corners, but it makes people who live there and surrounding parts feel better to say TH.

Anyway, I do know that according to statistics minorities are affected far greater by Covid than non minorities. So based on that information and the callous post by "hellupinharlem" I sympathize with the minorities who are at greater risk. Hope they listen.

I don't believe you (that you sympathize) and you're assuming they got it from being irresponsible. When you are poor and a lot of the areas that were hardest hit are poor, this means smaller spaces, more people in your building, etc. It's very difficult to social distance.

The North Shore, of which is part of 10314 covers some housing projects and areas like Stapleton, which has a lot of housing projects, so not all of Staten island is lily white and Republican.
You're thinking of 10304 buddy

I'm paying lots of attention. You need to look again. 10305 and 10314 cover parts of the North Shore, and 10305 covers areas like Rosebank, which have plenty of minorities. Back in the day Rosebank was heavily white. That isn't the case now. Again, you don't know the demographics, but are making claims about who is voting for Trump.

Apologies, I am thinking of 10305, which also covers areas like Rosebank.

Wow, gold star for you. You should make Detective in no time. However my sarcastic statements are a reflection of the original sarcastic statement in post #1.

Arrochar, Dongan Hills and South Beach. I have the demographics on the previous page, bottom

on average about 63% white with a higher proportion of Republicans which may include more people who don't wear face masks on political grounds but we don't know if that has anything to do with it

NEW YORK — The number of COVID-19 cases is rising in two areas of Staten Island, according to city health officials.

The spike is affecting the ZIP codes 10305 and 10314, where more than 3 percent of coronavirus tests are now coming back positive, Mayor Bill de Blasio said Thursday.

A new rapid testing site will open Nov. 12 at the St. George Ferry Terminal, in addition to 10 other testing sites, and the city will deploy 70 additional contact tracers and dozens of volunteers to distribute masks and encourage residents to get tested.

The city is also partnering with Empire Outlets to distribute protective gear.

Officials said the uptick is not large enough to trigger new restrictions and expressed confidence that they could quickly get the situation under control.

"We never want to see an uptick in any community, but, in this case — in your case — we’ve caught it early," Dr. Ted Long, leader of the city's Test & Trace Corps, told reporters Thursday.

Officials said the uptick does not appear to be linked to a single event but may be due to people taking fewer precautions — thanks to pandemic "fatigue" — and an increase in indoor activity as temperatures drop.

"We know it’s been a very long road," de Blasio said. "We constantly have to remind people how important it is to do the basics.”

How far south does the north shore stretch if parts of 10305 and 10314 are considered part of the north shore?

10305 and 10314 are Mid Island with only a smaller portion extending to North Shore
