Not out yet. Think they were delayed because of COVID, so it's only pay-per-ride now with a debit or credit card if you want to use OMNY, otherwise, buy a Metrocard.

I thought the whole point was to not have separate cards any more. Otherwise, it’s the same as a metro card.

Virtually all CCs have issued tap and go or whatever cards with chips in them. Did you reach out to your credit card issuer and specifically ask for a contactless card?

There are no weekly or monthly passes yet for OMNY, nor an OMNY card, so you need to buy a monthly Metrocard. At some point, an OMNY card will be released, but the original release date was delayed because of the pandemic. It should come out later this year.

Why not just keep the metro card then as a monthly option? If people want to opt into OMNY, they can. Seems redundant.

Because the Metrocard will be eliminated entirely in 2023. By then everything will be switched over to OMNY. It will make life a lot easier, especially for people that don't use the subway. They can just pay right on the bus. No more having to refill at a subway station.

Okay, so the difference between the metrocard monthly and the OMNY monthly is you can refill the OMNY card online. Got it.
