I hate self checkout.
After I'm shopping, no, I don't want to self checkout.
I just want to stand there while the cashier does it for me and bags my stuff.

I thought there was a push to bring your own bags to save the World anyway.

I guess we gave up on that as I do see Baggers working the end of the belt often.

When are we gonna get robots stocking the shelves?

Recent reviews on Yelp pretty much sums things up.

Really? They used to be so nice & sweet! I guess the pandemic is making everyone crabby. I know I'm done with it. There has to be a better way to handle this. The virus is not going away. It's the new normal and we all have to deal. C'est la vie!

That was the best part of the story. Take the steaks, leave the basket.

Nice places with nice people will have self checkouts.

Bad places with bad people will have Plexiglas and armed security and patrol cars parked out front.
Security staff are stationed right in front of the self checkouts at Flushing, Target to make sure no one is cheating.

Security staff are stationed right in front of both Target stores on UES, right next to those giant detectors. Yet both places get jacked routinely....

Real deterrent is something many NYC retail won't do; hire off duty NYPD through the paid detail program.

Duane Reade used to hire PD, but not sure if any stores still. Target has them at some stores.

Back when Commerce then TD Bank branches were being robbed nearly every day they hired PD officers. That was why when you went into those banks there was a NYPD officer stationed.

To be fair when city made some changes to PDU, many places didn't renew their contracts with city because they didn't like new terms.

Always thought operating registers and checking people out was fun, so I actually like doing the self checkout, I know that is unusual though.

No, in the main checkout area. The registers along the outside windows were removed and replaced with self checks. The line for all the registers starts together (a mistake) out in the main area, then when it turns into the long narrow hall going to the registers, the line splits into separate human cashier or self checkout lines.

Where did they install the self checkout? Downstairs where they had the express checkout by the sushi area? I stopped shopping there ions ago because of the rude surly cashiers and the insanely long lines. I would resume shopping there again if they have self checkout open at all times.
