Amazing how many people on this forum got on their soapbox about libs and woke only to discover that old Rudy was patted on the back. Tis' a teachable moment - best not to believe everything you hear until you gather all of the facts.
Genuinely can't tell if this is all a joke, but doesn't look any worse than the pat you might give someone on the back as you're attempting to walk around them in a crowded space...from behind he may have not even known who it was. Anybody standing in a crowded NY grocery store such as that could consider themselves at risk of at minimum brushing past another person or receiving a light tap on the back/shoulder as they walk around you.

I blame reality tv. People are always fighting, throwing punches, turning over tables. They normalize aggressive behavior. So now we are at a point where people think they are justified to assault someone.
And as you said nothing justifies it unless you are fighting back from a crime committed on you.
