New york's city monkey meat
A NYC Federal Judge has rejected an African woman's religious reaons for smuggling endangered monkey meat into the US. What is your opinion on this?

If it were 'inspected' by the Department of Agriculture, I'd have only an environmental problem with it. As it is, she could certainly have brought in extremely dangerous disease that are highly contagious and lethal (like Ebola virus, Marburg virus and many, many others) to both people and animals. Not a bright move at all. This is absolutely justified. The public safety outweighs this woman's religious freedom.

Besides which, establishing a precedent can open up some floodgates better left closed. The fact that she claimed "religious reasons" sounds as though she thought she'd found a way around the restrictions.

All animals are property, and no meat should be inherently illegal. Not even human meat as long as it is rightfully obtained (i.e. consensual cannibalism).

Repeating this doesn't make it true.

Okie dokie then..guess we have a Jeffrey Dommer on the forum. And no, animals are NOT your property and you cannot do whatever you want to them. Rather, they are god's (i.e. nature's) creatures. Doesn't matter what god you believe in or even if you're agnostic or atheist, they exist in their own right and are not here solely for your pleasure.
