I have lived in NR for 18 months. My unit came with Ac's I see some of these complaints but I really have none. I came from a 6 floor walk-up with bedrooms the size of shoe boxes. I could place 2 king sized beds in my bedrooms. I have 1 1/2 bathrooms and stainless steel appliances including a dishwasher. I love my kitchen with its ample cabinets. I have a fish tank in my lobby. They have shut down the amenities but that was due to negligence.
Wow I am stunned by the majority of negative responses regarding North Rose. I just re-upped for 2 years. I reside in 488 E 163 which appears to be more upscale than some of the other buildings. Fish tank in spacious lobby and lock boxes for large mail deliveries. I have noticed tenants moving out but this was never advertised a Beverly Hills! I have huge bedrooms and yes I miss windows in the kitchen/bathroom but I still love my apartment. I agree that there were some un-professional people in the management office but they have been replaced. When i called for repairs it was done promptly and on weekend which was convenient for me. Choice of Optimum or FIOS and I go back and forth depending on who offers me the most. The amanities were taken away due to neglect and abuse but they should be back when proper measures are taken. I would recommend others to move here.
People like to complain, that's just what they do and NYers are the best at it. Give them free shoes and they complain it's not the color they wanted. Give them food stamps, and they will complain it's not enough. Give them housing and they will complain it's ghetto..and on and on. Welcome to NYC!
Adjacent to Hub? E161st is not near 149th. But I agree that south of 161st is a highly improved community. Melrose might be one of the best areas currently in South Bronx.
I also agree that the city is pushing forward with its new affordable housing initiavite with the South Bronx in the forefront of this new agenda.
Well let's not hijack this thread. How about you open a new thread and start the conversation about Mayoral front runners. I would be curious about everyone's opinions about these candidates.
As for the Northrose, I think the vast majority can agree that this is a phenomenal development, it is the anchor (along with via verde) solidifying the future as a middle class community, and will also host the Southern Bronx's first gourmet supermarketGourmet supermarket planned for Melrose and this is their actual website (nothing on it yet but some pics..coming soon) Fresca Gourmet Market .
If that ain't change, I don't know what is.
Has there been any news on the progress of this market, is it open yet, or still in the planning stage?
