What is Fishkill like? Nice area? (Red Hook, Rhinebeck: safe area, safe, suburban)

Wanted to get some idea of what Fishkill, NY is like. Is it a safe area? Is it a suburb, or more of a big city? How far is it from NY City?

Any info you can share is greatly appreciated.

Since nobody has answered yet, let me just say that:

1) Fishkill is suburban, but more developed than areas up in northern Dutchess County (like Rhinebeck or Red Hook).

2) Probably 40-50 miles from NYC, depending on exactly how you do the measurement.
