my sister is looking into moving to Nanuet. How is the town, any known flood areas? anything else she should consider before thinking about moving there? whats the commute to the TZB like from there?
There's definitely been flooding in Nanuet, just google it and you'll get lots of results. I've never lived there, just spent time passing through, and don't know enough about the neighborhoods there to tell you which but I had friends who used to live there and know it's been an issue.
There's a big mall and a Costco in Nanuet, a lot of pleasant-looking neighborhoods. A big Orthodox Jewish population--or is that more in Monsey?
It's not far to the TZB but I-87 can get really crowded at rush hour. There are secondary routes to it, though, to avoid the main highway.
Is your sister commuting to the TZB or over the TZB? That could make a big difference considering the fact that they're planning major work/replacement of the bridge.
good info..also what is parking like in Nanuet or for that matter Rockland county? in most neighborhoods can you leave your car parked in the street or is there an ordinance for no overnight parking?
Is there a bicycle rack at the Nanuet train station?
I'm nearly certain there is. If not, you can easily lock it to a metal bar / post without issue.
