Please help with this. We will be moving in a couple of months and hope to be in our new home with high speed internet service already installed...or at least within a day or two. My husband has a wired desktop computer and I have a notebook. We will need a wired/wireless gateway modem. We also have blue-ray with internet capability, Amazon Prime and Netflix. It's more important to me to be connected to internet than it is TV as I work for a Realtor and another small business doing desktop publishing.

I looked into one local provider but it looks like you have to pay for bandwidth if you go over the limit - and Netflix streaming can do that. I will not pay one more penny than a regular monthly service fee, so can anyone out there help? We currently have Comcast internet, TV and phone. I'm debating about phone or triple play anything when we arrive. I'd just as soon use a digital antenna for local channels rather than pay what we're currently charged here in Jacksonville.

Thanks for any help/advice.

The major broadband provides in Ithaca are Time Warner Cable and Verizon. Check out those two. You might also check out Clearwire. Or if Ithaca has been upgraded to 4g, you can get internet service from Verizon Wireless. Or AT&T wireless.

Thanks, is there a distinctive difference between TW and Verizon as far as reliability - I'm sure customer service is probably the same? I was on TW website and see that they have a deal for Internet -up to 30mbps and basic tv for a year, but dread to think of the cost beyond that. I guess I should just worry about the first year and take the rest as it comes - by that time we'll have jobs. Not sure if hubby is ready to give up his desktop pc with its large monitor to go totally wireless. I'd like that however.
