They are usually military credits.

If you plan to join the NYC Department of Correction, your credits can be from any major as long as your school is accredited. You need a minimum of 39 college credits.

Just heard that they will be starting an academy class "soon"

I noticed in order to become a correction officer they request that you have a drivers lisence, does anyone know when they request this info? before your in the academy or after?

you have to have NYS by the time you start the academy.

I am a little confused.Hopefully someone can shed some light on this.

I have noticed two individuals who have stated position #24 on the list.

I likewise took the April 4, 2009 exam,and am also #24 on the list.

As of today (December 17,2009) no response from Albany,yet my paperwork states immediate placement.

Does anyone have any additional insight.

I took the Apr. 4th test in 2008. I got an 85 and was 312th on the list. I just got my letter of intent yesterday.
