Local public school is Webutuck. Many private/expensive schools in area. St Joseph's in Millbrook, NY is local Catholic grade school.

Very very Rural...so if you want to get away from the hub bub and kind of want the true country....amenia is quaint..small but quaint. I have only driven through it...all mom and pops....if you want the brand name stores, then you have to travel to south dutchess.

Very rural area, but fast growing. City folks are invading! The don't mind train commute for peaceful tranquility. Beautiful area but taxes are growing.
Town is not pretty but scope of area is unmatched for beauty. Within 2 hours or less is NYC (train right here), skiing, Hudson Valley Rail Trail (starts here), excellent public and private schools, short hop to Mass., NH and vermont.(under 2 hours). Ct towns of Sharon, Lakeville, Salisbury 5 to 15 miles. Very New England. Every one knows everyone here---good thing if you have kids. Close knit. Outsiders welcomed. Grew up here---vowed to leave---then returned---no place better.
