Do you find that IN GENERAL social networking is for younger people and those over 50 years old even avoid using email to communicate?

I am over 50 and was so busy working full time and raising teenagers that I never gave Facebook a thought until my dear daughter wanted an account. I decided I needed to learn about it, so she set up an account for me too.
I'm not a techie person, so she posted all of the pictures on my account as well. I think if you helped your
older relatives they might be more inclined to use email and/or Facebook.
Interestingly enough my parents never had any desire to have a computer or email account until I bought them a laptop and showed my mom how to use it. I set up her email account for her and she has since embraced it, but she told me she never saw the value/need until she was taught.
Knowledge is a powerful thing and so is fear of the unknown. Technological things don't come naturally to some of us who were not raised with it. If you really want your
older relatives to get connected you may have to facilitate it by teaching them how it is done and helping them get it set up.
