I'm late to the party, but these sites actually exist? Are we as a whole that desperate for companionship, that we can never dine alone once in a while? I'm no social butterfly, but I still have a few friends of my own. Then again, if there are people who will pay for dating & fashion advice, narcotics on the street, or someone else's "services" for the evening/night, then I suppose there are worse things in the world.

Can anyone justify these services? Would anyone here pay/has anyone here paid for someone to be their "friend?" I would much rather ask a real friend for help as opposed to pretending someone is my friend--or even an escort to a party--or go alone if worse really comes to worse.

IDK... I can see the whole legitimate escort thing. You got some guy who is single and he has some company event and you need a date and you aren't dating anyone.

I don't think it would be that bad to pay some hottie chick to go and sit with you at some company event or some BS like that.

IDK, maybe its just me. I have a weird way way of looking at thing.....

Why pretend you're with someone just so you don't go alone ?! What if you rent a date/friend, and there's someone at the party that piques interest ? Then you blow off your date, looking like an idiot, or you explain, "oh, they're only rented for the night" and risk looking like a completely freak. You bring a date to the company event, and people may start asking questions, they may pick up on you really don't know this person as well as you'd like to pretend. And, man, that's one office rumor you would NOT want getting out ... that is just humiliating gossip. "Get this, guess who brought a rented date to the party" ?!

OMG.

Be yourself, why would you want to pretend to be anyone else ?!??!

It's more fun to go to such an event alone, get wasted, then start a betting pool on when your boss' wife will divorce him and how much she'll take in the settlement

You betcha!

In April, I want to go to the Casino for my birthday but my husband will be working. Since I don't have a *friend* to ask to go with me, I'd love to be able to hire one. That would be awesome. I don't have a problem going by myself except that it is 90 miles away (in one direction) and I will be coming back after dark. I am not thrilled at the aspect of driving home alone.

I wish they had a "rent a friend" in the Springfield area.
