Sound of Reason- I get where your irritation comes from- you are close as family for some events, but not others? That doesnt feel good. Also it is hard being alone and feeling
lost in a move, so I dont fault your thinking. I do however believe you need to let time pass and make your decision on how to handle it when you have had time.

I would just let it go as well. How about broadening your horizons and having a lot more friends. I'm in the same boat with having no family ties. I do however have a lot of good people in my life. Less is not more in this case. What about a significant other?

Your current room mate sounds like a good friend....try to keep in mind Sound_of_Reason, (I'm not trying to be unsympathetic here) that YOU are responsible for making your life happy and content...no-one else.
