I watched TV for 2 hours last night and saw 3 people get killed.

And not a single sex act.

Now that football's over I'm gonna get caught up on my reading.

We are constantly bombarded with sex and violence through our media. Including commercials.

For adults, it's a personal choice and not much we can do about it.

Children are another story.

Get the TV and the PC out of junior's room.

In addition to the general lack of morals, lack of tradition, lack of decency, lack of respect in today's society. All one has to do is watch MTV for a few hours each night. The internet has made the most horrible things easily accessible to anyone. Agreed to the poster who said get the tv and the pc out of the kids room.

With statistics supposedly that high, I am quite surprised that I have not heard of one divorced couple I know where this was the reason.

As for the porn industry, none of these figure has any meaning unless we have some idea of the number of people in the business, or some reliable estimate of what it might be. The first item, for example, strikes me as very small for a period of nine years in a field of high sexual activity.

The CDC estimates that more than 16% of all Americans between ages 14 and 49 have genital herpes...that is one huge group of people.

In 2010 over 8,000 people in the U.S. died of AIDS, it would help if the 100 deaths were matched to a base population and a year (or are they the same nine-year period as above.)

The statistics need some pointing up to tell a convincing story.

I dont think it matters... This isnt 1990 where you can only go to the porn shop and get a video or magazine.

the simple fact is technology has made it easier to distribute and keep more accurate statistics.

The qualifications and standard testing in the porn world are pretty strict. You cant make a film unless you get tested. But theres idiots that disregard this because everyone has it. they arent the general poplulation though

theres also more people in the world today than ever before.

I do have morals BTW, Im only 26 and I think the younger crowd is effed, as most older groups think my group of effed.

It all comes down to parenting and ease of technology.. You cant even get a 5 year old interested in Leggos because you cant turn them on. its horrible, I LOVED Leggos. Not even going there with outdoor stuff like bicycles and go karts.

I think people think of the PC and TV as a means of babysitting, as long as the kid is there on the TV or PC hes quiet and not out in the world busting up his knees from the bicycle.

there is so much porn on internet you could go around the earth 7 times.

do you know the destruction that looking at porn does to someone brain.

Perhaps I am naive, but I don't think porn is destroying our society. I don't view porn. My husband doesn't view porn. I don't know anyone who is in porn, so the STD's don't have a direct effect on me or my family, or my segment of society at all, that I'm aware of.

It's not destroying our society. Alarmists like the OP would like us to believe it is.

I watch porn. My wife watches porn. You dont watch porn, nor does your husband. I bet we both function at the same level in social circles. Some sicko that wants to harm kids would do it with or without porn.

It's the same hyperbole you see any time there is a question of morality.
