One guy I met in 4th grade but wasn't friends with him until like 6 years later. I got moved into playing the same position as him in football and baseball, and through me stealing his starting spot in both we somehow became best friends. It's to the point that we are basically brothers.
Another dude I met in college through other friends. Been good friends for 6 years or so. Was really solidified when we were at a party and I said "I'm gonna hook up with her and you're gonna hook up with her" as I pointed out these 2 girls WAY out of our league(s)... and it happened. Magical.
One girl I met through a pair of buddies that were dorm neighbors to me the year prior. I had a huge crush on her and the three of us would always go and hang out at her apartment.. until eventually she started just inviting me. I tried to make a move and got shut down, then a few days later we were hanging out and I just said "I bet you f--- around with girls, huh?" out of nowhere and she just looked at me then smiled and started laughing hysterically. I was right. We've been close friends since then (7+ yrs) and spent about 2.5 years as roommates.
I was born. My aunt said that the day I was born, her son and I became best friends. We've been best friends for decades and then one day, I realize I don't want to be his friend anymore. I don't consider him a friend anymore.
I have two best friends, one male and one female. I met both (separately) as we were career colleagues (in different places). I only keep in touch with one high school classmate.
