That sounds great GBH. Nothing better than a NY deli bagel or treat. Enjoy!
An ex-bf from a few years back asked me to get together... maybe... if his plans fall through... how usual of him to say. I left him cuz I was always last on his list, so I'm not interested in cooking him a from scratch meal, again.
So, I'll find an Internet radio station with Christmas carols & play them all day Christmas Eve & Day.
Do yoga, walk on the treadmill or take a long walk if the smell of fireplace wood isn't in the air (slim chance this time of year)... I have asthma, so that just chokes me & chases me indoors.
Go to Costco tomorrow for a crate of grapefruit and/or oranges... love the smell of those during the Christmas season. As a kid, we were very poor so never had a tree... my mum used to place orange peels on the radiator so the smell of Christmas was throughout the house.
I may toss a Cornish hen in the cast iron Dutch oven with homemade stuffing I'd frozen a month ago, if I feel hungry... I'll wait 'til the day of to decide. And, maybe make those pumpkin pies I didn't get around to baking... doubtful, as I'm still nursing a flu or cold or whatever the Valhalla I caught 2-wks ago.
For NYEve... I'm happy to stay home on any drinking holiday... don't wanna be on the road.
I'll watch the ball drop online at 10pm local time, if I'm awake.
I keep up my spirits & just enjoy the holidays alone, cuz next year, I might not be alone... at least, that's always the hope.
Merry Christmas & Happy New Year, All, whatever you decide to do!
Sounds like a lovely day....fresh citrus does smell like the holidays. Have a pleasant time. I stay off the roads on New Year's Eve too...
Yes, whatever we singles here do, enjoy and peace to you in the new year!
I'll be with my team in a foreign country prior to deploying. We'll probably sit down for a team dinner and enjoy each other's company.
If I was home in Honolulu, I'd probably make a traditional southern dinner for the Christmas period, and watch the fireworks at my building for the New Year.
After each, I'd snuggle up on the couch next to my cat while watching something on Netflix.

On Christmas I plan to ride my bike all over town and enjoy the emptier-than-usual streets, go to the zoo, find someplace to sit outside and have a beer.
NYE- I haven't decided whether to go out and hang with friends or to a show yet, but if I do spend it alone I'll probably just chill at home and read or watch a movie.
The holidays don't really have much significance to me other than more frequent opportunities to go to dress-up parties and a little extra time off, so spending them alone or not isn't really a big deal (I spend quite a lot of time alone by choice already )
Again this year, I'd like to hear how single CD posters, who will be alone on Christmas and New Years, or Hanukkah, will be spending their days until January 2nd.
Will you cook up a storm for yourself?
Will you buy yourself something special?
Maybe build a fire and read with pets close by?
Or do home projects, hobbies?
Or possibly no real plans?
What an interesting question and original post!
Although I'm somewhat morally opposed to the entire concept of captive wildlife (zoos and to a lesser degree aquariums), we happen to have two of the best in a nearby big city, and they happen to be open on holidays. Normally, these facilities are absolutely teeming with screaming children, but they are pretty reliably quiet two days out of the year. When I can quietly and respectfully observe these animals without seeing them harassed or stressed by noisy crowds, I really enjoy that experience. Since it IS in a big city, it's also an opportunity to track down some new and interesting ethnic cuisine (many of these restaurants don't celebrate American holidays and are also open), which is a rare treat, so that's the plan for this year...
That's Christmas. New Year's, I will be attending a party this year. I know; weird!
Happy "Alone" Holidays to all.

I love that!
we used to hang socks on the end of our beds and mum would put an orange and quality street sweets in and 50p. We were poor but those were some fond memories.

Me too....I suppose that's why we don't freak out about being alone on major holidays...

Sounds good, otter....ethnic food I'd love to have. Zoo would be great without screaming throngs of people.
Have fun!

That's sweet....my dad got oranges in his stocking too...and not much else.
