Please define a "living wage". Is it $20 an hour? $100? Are you willing to pay more for a good or service in order for unskilled labor to have a "living wage"? You are not supposed to live on a minimum wage job, those jobs are meant for a person to gain skill and experience in order to move up to a better job.
it's not $7.25 an hour.

It's like this. If Hobby Lobby can start people at $9.50 an hour, why can't Walmart?

This has already been analyzed with the Costco vs. Walmart discussions. Both places serve different market segments, sell different products, have a different number of employees, have different sales margins, etc.

The man who owns Hobby Lobby is wealthy. So are the Waltons. Paying a little more won't bankrupt Walmart. Aldi pays $10 or 11 an hour to start.

I know someone who works at Walmart & I know how the employees are treated. I'll shop at Hobby Lobby & Aldi & skip Walmart.

It isn't that simple. There was an analysis of what would happen if Wal-mart raised their wages. They have to increase prices and/or lay off employees. Fewer people will shop there as a result of raised prices causing loss of market share and revenue. The stock will drop, stockholders will fire the board/CEO and then we are back to square one. Aldi and Hobby Lobby are nowhere in the same league as Wal-mart so the comparison is not valid.

Aldi is a company in many countries. It is a valid comparison. You seem to have one excuse after another. There is no point in discussing these topics with you. Don't worry, though, Karma has a funny way of teaching people the lessons that they need.

Well, speaking of Karma, the local weekly reported that business was down for the local Roses over the tax-free weekend. People are not stupid & took their business elsewhere.

This week, the local weekly mentioned that there have been surveyors down around exit 5 & I saw them yesterday, working on I 85. This morning it was announced that Captain Pat has called the legislature back on September 3rd. The legislature plans to strip him of his power concerning casinos, so either the casino will be approved before September 3rd or it's dead in the water.

For 4 years Captain Pat trashed Bev over job creation. So far, he's in negative numbers.

What? Just because two companies are in many countries means they should pay the same wage? Aldi and Wal-Mart are completely different. They have different products, different market caps, different number of employees and stores, etc. Look at their financial statements, they aren't even close to being the same.

How is restating previous analysis "making excuses"?

And then you end with the karma insult. I am very aware of business "lessons" thank you very much.

If you want low-skilled, part-time labor to make $15 an hour or whatever then start a business that pays that or become high enough in a company to make such changes. I think you'll find it isn't that easy.

Aldi sells food & nonfoods. So does Walmart. Both are multinational which speaks to buying power.

Find where I said that fast food workers should get $15 an hour. If you don't understand negotiations, here's a clue. Ask for more than you can reasonably expect & settle for something in between.

The fast food thing isn't tied to Pat. Are you using that as a smoke screen because he's doing worse than Bev did with jobs?
