I have lived in Atlanta, Raleigh, Chapel Hill, Durham, Flat Rock, NY, Texas, Seattle, Clinton, NY, St. Louis, Summit, New Jersey, Boston, Florence, Oregon and Davis, CA. Must say I prefer Davis over all the other locations, however, Oregon was the prettiest.Click image for larger version

Sorry if my post was off track. I did move away from NC and lived in LA for about a year. I lived in Venice Beach, actually. Made some good friends who were life-long Angelenos, but I would never move back to the LA area. There are a few spots in CA I like (Monterey, Morro Bay), but I don't think I'd like to live there. Doesn't get warm enough. The areas where it does get warm enough are too crowded. The areas not by the ocean are too dry. I was out doing a road trip through CA last summer. The fires were just terrible and the air quality was bad everywhere. I'll stick with NC. Can't think of another state in the US where I'd like to move to.

MY family moved here 7 years ago. It is a nice place to live, but never really felt like home to us. I do love the winter weather though.
We will be moving to Long Island this summer, it is where I grew up and it is my happy place. NC was never a happy fit for my husband, but to be fair he grew up in the Bronx and that is very different.
I personally find the religious thing to be annoying and pushy, but nothing to get crazy about. I had a few friends and neighbors that needed clear lines drawn about pushing their beliefs, but once that got through to them all was well and respected.

Moved from the triad area (south of High Point in Trinity area) in 2013 to S.E. Alabama (Dothan). We lived in NC for fifteen years. Miss NC soooo much! Southern Alabama feels like I stepped off of a spacecraft onto an alien planet most days. Whole different vibe down here and not in a good way.

I'm probably looking to relocate to Nashville for personal reasons either this year or next year. I've visited Nashville several times this year, and I honestly prefer Charlotte and my job in Charlotte. However, I do like the idea of no more state income taxes (although Tennessee makes up for this with higher county sales tax).

The thought of being several hours away from a beach makes me cringe. Also, I'm not a fan of country music. However, it is a personal move up for me and people are far more important than places.
