At the Mebane City Council meeting at City Hall on the evening of October 2, the elected board unanimously approved a proposal from Deep River Partners for conditional rezoning to develop five commercial parcels and 90 townhomes on a series of properties along Mebane Oaks and Old Hillsborough Road, adjacent to the I-40/I-85 freeway corridor.
The City Council’s approval paves the way not only for the new townhomes, but also new restaurants and similar commercial spaces at the intersection of Old Hillsborough and Mebane Oaks Road - an area which has seen a boom in construction in recent years.
Wow. That's quite shocking. Where is this exactly?
From the linked article:
"The specific addresses of the properties included 1462 Mebane Oaks Road, 1446 Mebane Oaks Road, 1470 Mebane Oaks Road, and an unaddressed fourth property contiguous to the other three parcels."

– flyExclusive, the Kinston-based provider of what it calls “premium jet charter experiences,” is turning $30 million from the state of North Carolina into a new headquarters and what it calls a “cutting-edge pilot training center and headquarters” at the Global TransPark.
A line in the recently passed North Carolina budget notes “$30,000,000 to the GTP for a flight training and corporate office facility,” an “earmark” – one of many – as reported by WRAL News.
On Thursday, flyExclusive confirmed to WRAL News that the budget line was for the HQ it announced in a press release which says the money is an “investment.”

Epsilon Advanced Materials, Inc., a global provider of synthetic graphite used in electric vehicle batteries, will build its first manufacturing facility in the United States in Brunswick County, creating 500 jobs, Governor Roy Cooper announced today. The Indian-based company will invest $649.9 million at the Mid-Atlantic Rail Industrial Park.
“North Carolina continues to lead the way in the transition to a clean energy economy by attracting good-paying jobs from great companies like Epsilon that make our state stronger and healthier,” said Governor Cooper. “This historic investment will bring 500 clean energy jobs to Brunswick County, helping both our economy and our environment.
Toyota plans to invest an additional $8 billion and hire an additional 3,000 employees at its electric battery manufacturing site in Randolph County, the company announced Tuesday.
This brings Toyota’s total investment to $13.9 billion and more than 5,000 jobs.
“This investment reflects our commitment to electrification and carbon reduction, and it enables jobs and future economic growth for the region,” says Sean Suggs, president of Toyota North Carolina, in a statement. “We are excited to see the continued energy and support of this innovative manufacturing facility.”
This investment expansion adds capacity to support battery electric vehicles (BEVs) and plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs). An additional eight BEV/PHEV battery production lines will be added to the two previously announced, for a total of 10 BEV/PHEV battery lines, according to the company.
There needn't be an unemployed able-bodied man within 50 miles of the place. I'd be in favor of a public/private effort to provide transportation for those in need.
