Hello, I'm a new member to this forum. I don't see any recent posts.
I'm considering moving to NC but don't know how to start the research. I have two children 8 and 6 years old. I would like to live in a nice, family friendly neighborhood. What is the housing market like? I think I want to live close to Charlotte. Is there where many finance jobs are?

Charlotte is a banking center, but we also have waves of layoffs at the two major banks here, Wachovia and Bank of America. Define "finance jobs" - CPA?

What I would advise is that you go to the CLT forum and read there - use the search feature and check out such things as jobs, finance jobs, etc. and see what others are saying. It really makes no sense to think about specific areas of CLT as far as housing til you know what job you will have and where you will need to commute. CLT is a very spread out city.

Where are you located now? Why are you thinking about leaving? Charlotte is a very family-friendly city, but so is Raleigh Durham. You really need to come to this area and see if you like it, as it may be quite different from where you are living now. And the key to moving here is having a job b/f you come.
