Yeah, I'm in the same boat. Luckily, this year I live only a few blocks from my work instead of 20 minutes across town.
If you don't mind me asking, where do you work in town?
I work at an insurance agency right near Trinity. Of course, that's a bit of a drive to and from base so I really don't want the snow to be worse than last year.
I didn't really notice a difference and I went outside everyday several times a day for my job. I could tell if it was below zero, though. My eyes would water and my nose hairs would freeze. Then I knew it was below zero! As far as differentiating between -10 and -25...not to good about that. It's just plain COLD.
Reminds me of what I heard on a radio station while driving to work in Minnesota at 2 AM with the temp of -32.
I had picked up a Nashville radio station and they were complaining about the cold wave down in Tennessee. The woman said----" this 15 temp is unbelievable " ( 15 above zero)
The other guy on the station reminded her Minnesota had temps in the -30's.
She replied---------"once you get down as low as +15, it all feels the same regardless how low the temp drops.'
That woman would have no trouble adjusting to North Dakota ( or Alaska) temps.-------sarc

It sounds pretty wimpy, but you have to keep in mind that those of us who live in ND or Alaska are used to this kind of weather after years of exposure. To people who think 15 is bad, their bodies probably aren't adapted to weather that cold on a regular basis. I try to keep this in mind when I hear friends or ND newbies complaining about the cold. They just aren't used to it!
I've lived in a cold weather state ( Minnesota)all my life.
I still haven't adjusted to the cold winters.
Maybe the next 65 years will change that. ( the first 65 didn't )
Really? I guess everyone is different. I'm into my 14th year here, and I have to say I'm actually looking forward to the cold. I've always been a fall-season lover anyway, but this past summer I was very uncomfortable in even mild heat. I'm talking low to mid 70's and 80's days made me feel miserable. Although snow isn't something I totally enjoy, the cold temps sound pretty good right about now.

I'm a cold weather person too, for the most part. Around here right now, as autumn approaches, people tell me they are "freezing to death" when it gets down to the 40's at night (relief for me after the long, stiflingly hot summer). I just roll my eyes. I don't want to speak because I know that I will come off as even more hostile than rolling my eyes. My suffering is over... and they are whining?
I can't WAIT for winter! If we are real lucky here, the best days of winter will have highs in the lower or mid 20's and lows sometimes down to zero (kind of rare, though). Of course, I can go up to the ski resort areas and get some real cold. That's kind of nice, too. Generally, the winter highs in the valleys are in the low 30's... okay, I guess. Could be colder for my tastes, though.
People are complaining because it's 40? Wow. When it hit 35 this past winter I turned my air condition on in the car. It's quite a change from being below zero to then being 35 degrees warmer and it just feels very warm. It is not uncommon to see people wearing short and t shirts in 40 degree weather. My friend actually took pics and sent them to her friend in MD when she first got here because she couldn't believe it. Now, she wears t shirts, too.

Let'em try Ga at 15.the wind chill is murder.Ill take nd winters anyday.
I like seasons but I don't like COLD! Yes, winter should be cold but not Syberia cold! I wouldn't mind a steady 30 degrees all winter long.
Move 1 or 2 states south and you'll have it. High temps in NJ during the winter are generally right about 40* and that band continues across the country through PA, MI, IL, SD, KS, CO, UT. It's a rather pleasant environment though I'd prefer mid-50s to be able to golf year round personally.
