Bananas Foster doesn't require an apostrophe...:-)

Carmen Armenti had another restaurant in downtown Trenton also...
He was trying to capture the politico and upscale diner crowd .. attempting to compete with venerable Lorenzo's, a place where deals were brokered over expensive aged steaks, Brandy and cigars.

(BTW I usually use 'Don Q' dark rum from Puerto Rico in my Bananas Foster, but this was 'Desperation Dinner' night so I used A decent Cognac)

So, back to the late and dearly departed Carmen Armenti, Restauranteur and former Mayor/Councilman of my City...

I attended his funereal with my Investigations Unit and then escorted my Mother later, so she could be with her friend, Hope Vulgaris Armenti,..wife of Carmen.

My Mother became friends with her years earlier, at the St. George Greek Church Festival which is two blocks down the street in from my late parents home.

Hope Armenti was a principal member of the Greek Community and very active in St. Georges church and it's events.
But, I digress...back to Carmen Armenti's restaurants;
The one in Trenton went 'belly up'..poor management.

From what I can discern, The Bayside Restaurant in Seaside was going the same route..

It was having those God Awful 'All the Swill You Can Eat' Buffet events to bring in the locals, and low budget crew..(Think Randy Quaid in the movie 'Vegas Vacation')

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KtkpTrvwQ6c

I think the date the place went up in flames it was a Buffet event. IDK..
propane tank exploded..they were summarily outlawed in NJ eateries later.

Might have been a blessing for Carmen, even though the lawsuits were Legion by customers with legit and fabricated claims of injury... again, think 'All you can eat Buffet' crowd.

Like hitting the Lottery for some...

Usually if a restaurant starts the Buffet route, it is not unlike a neighborhood that has to install 'Speed Bumps'..things are going South.

Carmen was a great politician, a schmoozer extraordinaire, and a likeable guy, loved by most Trentonians, Blacks, Whites and Hispanics...but his business acumen for running restaurants was a bit lacking.

As a side note, the Realtor who represented the seller when I bought Magoo Manor in 2000, was Carmen Armenti, not the former Mayor/ Restauranteur but his namesake, Nephew.

Small world, N'est ce Pas?

Go Ravens! Yeah, it's over there in Maryland, but it's the Mid-Atlantic.

I remember watching Johnny Unitis years ago. Go Colts! Philadelphia now has Wentz. He's the golden arm now.

I'm not walking. I once said that after drinking three Long Island Iced teas. Damn. It was probably a good thing. That was after spending the day on the boat fishing. No keepers.

I was probably posting at the end of an insomnia attack and fell asleep at the keyboard. I do that once in a while.

Does that remind you of Mack the Knife, or is it just me?

In that case... "Call me anything you want, but don't call me late for dinner."
