Today I took the time to call the good Senator's office. To say that I am disappointed, in deed outraged with the call would be an understatement.
I asked what Casey's position is on the immigration reform bill. My step daughter who has been waiting nearly a year to enter legally is what drives my position.
At first the phone talker tried to side step the question. H responded that the bill is still under debate. I stated "yes I understand this, but what is the Senator's position.
Once again the talker attempted to give a non-committed answer.
Finally I demanded to know where Casey stood. Is her for granting a free pass or is for making illegals follow the same path my step daughter has needed to follow.
He admitted that Casey is for a pathway to citizenship that does not require illegals to follow the path legals follow.
I asked how will we make them pay back taxes if we actually don't know how long they have ben here?
He said the immigrant would report this information.
I asked why the immigrant would tell the truth?
He responded with "Why would they lie?" My god
I asked if the senator believed in rewarding criminal behavior? The talker replied that they don't see eit as criminal behavior.
My wife who is a legal immigrant now a citizen was warned that if she was arrested for any reason that she could be deported as a result.
Illegals, tax evasion/fraud. ID theft/ fraud. Driving without a license/ insurance. No problem.

An exhaustive study by the Heritage Foundation has found that after amnesty, current unlawful immigrants would receive $9.4 trillion in government benefits and services and pay more than $3 trillion in taxes over their lifetimes. That leaves a net fiscal deficit (benefits minus taxes) of $6.3 trillion. That deficit would have to be financed by increasing the government debt or raising taxes on U.S. citizens.
What amnesty for illegal immigrants will cost America - Washington Post

Just another way of the current administration to buy another load of life long democratic voters. Too bad so few people realize you don't multiply a country's wealth by dividing it.

"The Heritage Foundation's recently unveiled and long-awaited report on the Senate immigration proposal certainly brought the ultra-conservative think tank lots of attention. But it's not the kind that's likely to prove influential.

Republican leaders, including Rep. Paul Ryan of Wisconsin and Sen. Marco Rubio of Florida, denounced it. "This study was designed for a headline," said former Mississippi Governor Haley Barbour, terming it a "political document." The Libertarian Cato Institute called it "fatally flawed."

What went wrong? In short, this new study exaggerates the costs of immigration reform, and underestimates its benefits. It relies on unrealistic assumptions and junk data. Because the Heritage Foundation tried to fool its audience, the right-wing think tank was stuck with a flop. ...

Heritage's report claims that legalizing the status of undocumented people in the U.S. would cost taxpayers $6.3 trillion over the next few decades. That's a scary number, right? But it's not accurate in the least. The researchers who produced that phony statistic distorted their "findings" by conducting a cost/benefit analysis that left out all the benefits."

On immigration Senator Toomey is no better than Senator Casey. They might as well be both Democrats or Republicans – they are cut from the same cloth.

But; this thread will probably be shut down soon. We don't like anything too controversial. You'll probably have to move to the national forum on illegal immigration?

I put it here because the good Senator is from PA and I live in North East Pa. The arrogance of the person on the phone is what I found most galling. Like Senator Casey knows best.
Mean while my daughter most likely will wait another 3 or 4 years. We could have cheated and allowed her to overstay on her tourist VISA, but we have honor and obeyed the law.
