Hello all, looking for some info on surrounding areas of Danville. My husband is being recruited by Geisinger medical. We are a family of 5 with an 8 yr old, 12 yr old and 14 yr old so schools are important. These are the areas we are trying to get info on: Lewisburg, Bloomsburg, Selinsgrove and Danville. TIA!
Liz

I don't have any information about schools or taxes but I've spent some time in the area and my wife & I have kicked around the idea of retiring out in the Danville area.

Lewisburg seems like a nice upscale town. Home to Bucknell University. There's a fairly active antiques mall there, too.

Just over the river from Danville is the quaint little village of Riverside. It seems really nice there.

Bloomsburg is also nice but their college is a state school, so not as upscale as Lewisburg.

My wife's brother and his wife live in an area called Oak Grove, west of Danville, which is way out in the country and they like the peace and quiet.

Also out that way is a village called Mooresburg where they say a lot of Geisinger doctors live.

I would suggest Lewisburg. It is home to Bucknell University, and has a very charming and vibrant Main St. with many beautiful historic buildings and with the University, has a range of cultural opportunities to take advantage of.
