It has? 40 years? I don't think so. Black people used to make good music, James Brown, Ray Charles, The Temptations, Jimi Hendrix. I don't understand how it went downhill so quickly. Why can't the blacks today emulate that music?

Just a thought, maybe it was that time for that kind of music. They are all classics, Four Tops, Barry White, Al Green, all great singers. Now, manybe that genre of music is not in. I love all of that older type of R and B Music, I hope someday it makes a comeback.

You're right, that stuff was real music. This rap stuff doesn't sound remotely like anything musically. I still want to know where is the talent in making a rap song? You don't have to play an instrument and you don't have to write lyrics that mean anything because you don't have to sing them and I can't figure out for the life of me what they are saying, it's like bad nursery rhymes.

You are right. It wasn't around for the last forty years. It's actually been around MUCH longer:

I can see by reading the Wikipedia reference how it went downhill to what it is today. It went from the blues, to jazz, to Caribbean music, to rap in the eighties, to this horrible "gangsta" rap that is around today. By pointing out it's roots, it does not make it real or good music.

I disagree. It is REAL music. Good music? Like all art and beauty? THAT is in the eye of the beholder.
