I will be one of the "furloughees" but I may be heading out of town. If I stay, I'll definatly do a little Reston hiking. Maybe even a little Lake Audubon bird watching - I understand a pair of bald eagles has been spotted several times recently hanging out at the lake.

Just remember, if you're going to get drunk, don't do anything stupid like calling your boss and telling him off. Or posting a video of you mooning the white house. You want to be able to come back to your job when this is over.

My husband will be working, since he's considered "essential". I kind of wish he'd have a few days off since he's been working so much lately. Our anniversary is tomorrow and it would have been nice to spend it together!

Wow, is that the perception of the new Govts? I'm thinking that if we made it past college without doing anything that would prevent us from getting a TS/SCI with a poly that we will be fine.

Anyway, we are going to make the best out of it, heck it's out of our control anyway.

I just hate waiting and not knowing. Either make a budget decision or make a furlough decision. Then let us know how long it's going to last so we can plan our own budgets (and vacations).

Well, my husband hasn't been working because he just had quadruple bypass. His medical leave will be cancelled and he may not get paid. I was thinking of leaving for a quick trip to Vermont Friday night if the shutdown was going to happen... However, I am a contractor and since my contract is funded - I report to work. So - darnnit....but, at least I'll be paid!

Thanks! We're low-key people so it will be relaxed. Probably just dinner and a Netflix. Or most likely watching CNN/FOX/MSNBC like hawks to see what will be going on. How romantic.

With the right person, that's all it takes!

(We're the same way.)

My hubby is a fed. Since we may not get paid, he'll be taking over the childcare duties. Can't pay our childcare worker if we aren't going to get paid. Fortunately they are very understanding (not a commercial place). Then there's the 5 gallon bucket of paint in the laundry room that's been waiting to be applied to the hallways and stairwell. That'll get him through the first couple of days. in the meantime I'll be picking up some afternoon sub jobs after my 1/2 kindergarten class leaves. I have a mortgage to pay! On second thought, wonder if I could get a "bail-out" from the mortgage company since I bailed them out in the first place......sorry rather snarky about the whole thing.
