Those were appropriate closures, in my mind. Today, hmmm, still not so sure. My husband was also told to stay home today (private sector in a government building--no pay for him). Yet he is out driving around, ordering my blinds from Lowe's today, and picking me up a sandwich from Wegman's. Roads are easily traveled. However, I'm not stupid enough to think that would be the case if EVERYONE where out trying to get to work. Heck, we don't do well with heavy rain around here.

I'm just outside Pentagon City and it is still melting upon contact with the ground. Hell, it is not even sticking to cars here.

This is my situation. Or I can download the VPN software onto my personal laptop and use that if I wish. If I suspect I'll be working from home then I bring my work laptop home, though -- the screen is bigger and it's a better computer than my laptop.

In the mid-80s, when I worked for a defense contractor in Colorado Springs, our office was on a road that was frequently closed when it snowed. But on the news, they would say "Highway 83 is closed except for XX employees, who will be let through if they show their badges." Don't know who they paid off, but that's how it worked!

We're not supposed to use our own PCs so not an option for us. I suspect though that soon this will all be in the cloud so it won't matter whose you're using, just like it is now with phones.

Not worried about it at all. The roads are clear.

Think that depends on where you are. My neighborhood is a slushy skating rink if I can judge by watching the cars and SUVs trying to make it though. I am glad I don't have to drive anywhere because I don't think I would be able to climb back up the hill to get home. Right now on 66 there is a jackknifed truck blocking all westbound lanes according to the news.

The worst of it for most areas is supposed to hit today they said. So the fed govt closing probably had more to do with that as what was already on the ground.

Right, it does depend on where you are. I'm in DC, Georgetown Hosp., and they keep it clear here. Only have to drive over the Key bridge and I am home. At times like this I feel lucky I don't live way out.
