I have only done it a couple of times but from my very meager experience I would say it fills up by 8:00 am at the latest. There are not a lot of spaces.
There is another parking garage which charged $5 across the street on Prosperity. if you go out of the main parking lot of Dunn Loring then you take a right and then an immediate left. (the entrance is just behind the immigration building on the left.)
see the center of this google maps link also with street view.

I have no idea when that garage fills up however. Someone else will chime in I am sure.

Thank you sjankis630! We are thinking about purchasing a place either near Vienna Metro or Dunn Lorring Metro! The place near Vienna Metro will be within walking distance but the place near Dunn Lorring will not be. Just wondering where do people park their car.. I can get in work pretty late but it seem like if I want to pay for parking using smartrip, I have to get to the station before 8 AM? (I receive monthly commuting expense through smart benefit) There is only outdoor parking managed by Metro right? (No parking garage that is payable by smartrip)

I can tell you that the Dunn Loring metro lot is now under a redevelopment plan that will include over 600 apartment units, a Harris Teeter, and a new parking garage for over 2000 spaces for metro riders. There are now 1300 spaces. The garage goes up first, and development must maintain the 1300 spaces until the garage is ready. Long story short, this is going to take a few years to compete, and it's going to be somewhat disruptive to the current parking plan. In 36 months, it'll be great for commuters, but until then, it'll probably be challenging.

I hope I am not breaking any rules revamping this thread. I was just in the Dunn Lorring area the other week and what a transformation! The new garage for the Metro is massive.
I am curious if the original poster actually ended up buying in the area. With the whole "Mosiac" district now established and given credibility by many new hipsters, it can only look good for the early buyers. Well at least it would look good from a property value standpoint.

On the topic of Metro lots, about when on Saturdays does the west parking lot at Eisenhower metro typically begin to fill up?

I don't know of a lot that will ever fill on weekends unless something big is going on. If the weather is nice the next few weekends (a big if) during the Cherry Blossom Festival they may, but from my experience I never have a problem.
