Good morning, I'm getting ready to replace a raised deck, 7' off the ground, that goes over a walk out basement. Under the existing deck is a cement patio that has been there for 20+ years, no cracks, very well done. The existing deck (12' x 22') is supported by 6x6's that are places outside the cement patio, so no support actually under existing deck. FFX county code would require support post under the deck. My question, would i have to break through the cement patio to dig a footer, or could the existing cement patio service as a footer for the new post, attached with a Bracket secured to the patio?

Thanks..

I doubt I would accept this kind of advice on any forum. Might consider going straight to the source.
