Leesburg has caught our attention and we're trying to find out more about it.

Where do people go for health care (i.e., hospitals) if they have some thing serious - i.e., cancer, or have a heart attack, or need an operation?

There doesn't seem to be a central big hospital in the Loudoun Valley. US News shows the Medstar hospitals in DC as being the best for most issues, with Inova Fairfax rated the best for Endocrinology and Gynecology. Is that where people go?

How is the area for specialists?

Thanks.

I would hope anyone would go to the nearest hospital in case of a heart attack. For Leesburg, that would be Inova Loudoun, located in Leesburg.

For all specialties, I an sure you could find a top 25 nationally ranked doctor within a 2 hour drive of Leesburg. Within 40 minutes, I am sure you can find an excellent doctor for whatever specialty you are looking for.

I would never assume a specific hospital is where I would go for the best doctors. I would always find the specific doctor I was comfortable with; and then plan to go to the hospital where they have privileges. With more than 25 hospitals in the DC/ NoVA area, I am sure you can find the expertise you need.

For serious trauma, the patient would likely be flown to Inova Fairfax. Some cancer patients are treated at Georgetown.
