Last time I checked, the FCC does not fine people for using that word, whether as part of a playful jab or otherwise.

Granularity, granularity, granularity.

Perhaps you could now assist the OP by either telling him what you believe the possible drawbacks of Chesterbrook are or, conversely, explaining why it and other parts of "greater McLean" have no shortcomings and are great places to live. I've made my contribution; where is yours? I suspect, however, that he already knows about the proximity to Balducci's.

Give it a rest already....

BTW, it was a befuddling and irrelevant remark on your part in how you somehow associated my response to your jab to the FCC's fining process.

Again, give it a rest already.

TankDude,
What's with the constant defensiveness about McLean and attacks on Vienna? Both are nice, both have pluses and minuses. The competition thing with JEB is getting OLD.

Seriously, I wanted some intelligent feedback here. I am considering Chesterbrook and N. Arlington because the new homes in these area are plentiful and will be in my price range. Wanted to know if there were any serious drawbacks to either. Commute for my wife and I is key.

I don't think there are any "serious drawbacks" - if one had any concerns, they would relate to the fact that the homes you are looking at may be new, but they are still located in an older area where most of the original development occurred between 1950 and 1970, so some of the infrastructure and local amenities may be a bit dated.

Looking at it from a different perspective, if a wealthy, older area like Chesterbrook also had the most modern schools and the best-maintained roads (which it does not), other residents in the county would probably cry foul. So, as in other locations, there are some trade-offs but, on balance, these are great areas.

In terms of a commute, I'd estimate that it takes 15 minutes from Chesterbrook to downtown DC during non-rush hour and 30-35 minutes during rush hour. Pretty good by NoVa-DC commuting standards. Don't you already know the commute from North Arlington?

Send Clairemarie a PM and ask her opinion; I don't think she lives in NoVa now, but did live in both North Arlington and Chesterbrook in the past.

What kind of residents live in Chesterbrook? From looking at sales listings it seems like there are quite a few people with "ethnic" names.

Almost all names are "ethnic" names; they just reflect different ethnicities!

I would expect that, given its proximity to DC, the Chesterbrook area attracts large number of diplomats and others working with international organizations such as the World Bank, the IADB and the IMF. You can probably include university professors and businesspeople born and educated abroad as well.

For what it's worth, here's the demographic information for Chesterbrook ES - consistent with my earlier observation that the area is somewhat diverse, but less so than the county as a whole.

Apparently, you're not paying attention.

I corrected several errors and inaccuracies as written by Jed about McLean/Chesterbrook. You can clearly see for yourself.

It all started with Jed of course, who took an unnecessary jab at me. As they say, play with fire and you'll get burned, so not only did I have to correct his errors, but I also had to bring him and his self perceived sublime Vienna (Marshall HS district) back down to the level of that he perceives of McLean.

Just trying to help.
