We are thinking about purchasing a home in Leesburg, but I work in Tysons. Anybody do this commute? How long does it take if you use the toll road? Are there anytimes when it is quicker....unlike the Beltway when it is bad 6-9:30am

i live in Sterling, which is 20 minutes closer to tyson's than leesburg is. i work in tyson's also.

I left the house today at 6:43 and was at work at 7:04
typically, if i leave at 6, it takes me 17 minutes
if i leave at 7, it'll take 30 minutes
if i leave at 730, it'll take 45 minutes

Granted, i'm taking rt 7 which you may or may not want to take depending on your budget for the toll road. the cost adds up so you might want to consider that when purchasing your home. I suggest coming in a bit closer to tyson's (sterling, vienna, reston areas) if you're planning on staying at your company for a while.

Good luck.

I too live in Sterling and worik in Tysons. I typically leave around 6:30 and the drive takes about 25 to 30 minutes. While the highway is jammed with cars the onlly really big hang-up is when there is an accident. Normally the traffic moves pretty well.

My Fiancee averages roughly 45-55 minutes when taking the toll road (via Waxpool to 28) from Ashburn. She generally leaves around 7:45-8:15am.
