Went to South Lakes my freshman year and I didn't think of it as being a bad school regards to its teachers they tried to help you the best they can, but as for the students well... it depends, like any other high school you have your goods and bad's. Although I do remember them having freshman beat up day and cops did patrol the school (this was in '01-02).

Did not take any IB courses (it was offered) I didn't feel like doing the extra work, found it pointless and I feel that I'm doing just fine in the University (UMD @ CP).

Test scores and all that stuff aside, I do believe that AP courses are better suited towards getting credits when entering into college. As far as I know, IB courses are much tougher to get credit for at colleges, if the college will even give credit for them at all.

So, individual school qualities aside, the student may receive more credits when starting college if they're in high school with AP-course offerings.

Thanks everyone. My daughter is in AP classes here in New Mexico and we like the program. We were really impressed with the info on Herndon's website. The course catalog looks more like a colleges than a high schools. She is excited to get started.
